SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife.
A police spokesman in a statement said that yesterday, Police Station Budgam received an information that Muslima wife of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat son of Saif u din Bhat resident of Nasrullaora Budgam, age about 36 years died but the dead body bears visible ligature marks.
He said that death seems suspicious. Upon receiving this information, police party of Police Station Budgam rushed to the house where lady had died and found the death to be suspicious.
“Accordingly, senior police officers rushed to the spot to examine the scene of crime,” he added.
“During investigation and upon examination of the dead body, visible ligature marks on neck of the deceased lady were found and subsequently the dead body was taken into possession by Police for legal formalities,” he further added.
The spokesman said that today the post mortem of the dead body was conducted at Government Medical College Srinagar in presence of magistrate under proper videography.
“Simultaneously, the husband of the deceased lady Ghulam Mohammad Bhat was taken into custody for questioning,” he said.
“During sustained questioning, the accused admitted to have killed his wife by strangulation which he had pre-planned as corroborated by the preliminary Post mortem report,” he added.
“Case FIR number 393/2022 U/S 302 IPC stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation taken up,” he further added.
“Many pieces of evidence have been collected during the initial investigation,” said police spokesman in a statement.
Pertinent to mention that the deceased lady (35 years) belonged to Kolkata and had married the accused just 20 days ago.
